ABOUT THIS CAPE
The Minecraft Dungeons II event cape, and the cape handed out at Gamescom 2026 — they are the same item, despite being announced as if they were two. Mojang teased it on the Minecraft Instagram story on August 25, 2026, pulled the post, then reposted it on August 26 with explicit Dungeons II branding. The design is a charged-creeper face glowing pale cyan and white on deep navy; Mojang’s own copy calls the effect “Soulception”. Physical cape cards were handed out at the Xbox booth in Hall 7 at Koelnmesse, with a redemption code on the back, and an online route has been promised but not detailed. Unlike the Hero and Twisted Capes it stays inside Dungeons II — it does not unlock in Minecraft: Java or Bedrock Edition.
HOW TO OBTAIN
Collect a physical cape card at the Xbox booth in Hall 7 at Gamescom 2026 (Koelnmesse, August 26–30, 2026) and redeem the code printed on the back — those codes run to roughly December 31, 2027. Mojang has also promised an online route for people who could not attend, but has not announced how or when it opens. The cape is granted in Minecraft Dungeons II only.
TRIVIA
- ▸
The “Gamescom cape” and the Corrupted Creeper Cape are one cape — the first Instagram tease was pulled and reposted a day later with Dungeons II branding, which is why they were widely reported as two.
- ▸
The face is a charged creeper, the light-blue variant created when lightning strikes a creeper — fitting for a limited event cosmetic.
- ▸
Physical cards carried renders of Kellen with a war hammer and Valorie with a sword, plus a QR code pointing at Dungeons II pre-orders.
- ▸
Codes printed on the Gamescom cards run to roughly December 31, 2027, far longer than the show itself.
- ▸
Despite being handed out on the Minecraft Instagram channel, it never unlocks in Java or Bedrock — only the Hero and Twisted Capes cross over.
