Is MineCapes legit?

A fair question to ask any cape seller. Rather than answer it with adjectives, this page sets out exactly how a code reaches you, what we never ask for, and what happens when something goes wrong.

MineCapes is an independent marketplace. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Mojang Studios or Microsoft.

What we never ask you for

This is the clearest line between a cape code sale and an account compromise. You redeem the code yourself, on the official Minecraft website. We are never involved in that step.

  • Your Microsoft or Minecraft account password
  • Your two-factor authentication codes
  • Access to your account, at any point, for any reason
  • Remote access to your device or screen

This applies to every seller, not just us. If anyone selling a Minecraft cape asks to log into your account, stop. A legitimate cape code never requires it.

One code, one buyer

The common failure in this market is the same code being sold more than once. We handle that structurally rather than by promising to be careful.

When your payment confirms, a single code is locked and assigned to your order in one atomic database operation, then immediately marked sold. Two people checking out at the same instant cannot receive the same code — the second request skips the locked row and takes the next one. Every code is permanently tied to the order it went to, so its status can be checked at any time.

Codes are also never redeemed, tested against an account, or shared by us at any point. A code is revealed exactly once, to the person who bought it.

If a code does not work

Email support@minecapes.net with your order number. The remedy is, in order:

  1. 1Replacement. We issue another code for the same cape.
  2. 2Full refund. If no replacement is available, you get your money back.

Cryptocurrency orders: the remedy is the same. A confirmed on-chain payment cannot be reversed the way a card charge can, so a refund is sent back to you in crypto, to an address you provide.

What we see when you pay

Card payments run on Stripe-hosted checkout. Your card number is entered on Stripe's page, not ours, and never reaches our servers. Crypto payments are processed through NOWPayments.

What we actually receive is confirmation that a payment succeeded and the email address to deliver your code to. That is the entire set.

Stock counts are real

Availability reflects actual code inventory. When the last code for a cape sells, the listing is marked sold out immediately. We do not run countdowns on capes that are not scarce, take backorders, or show a cape as available when no code exists behind it.

If you want to know how scarce a cape genuinely is, our cape encyclopedia lists confirmed owner counts for every documented Minecraft cape, sourced from NameMC.

Questions people actually ask

Is MineCapes legit?

MineCapes is an independent marketplace, not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft. We sell unused Minecraft cape redemption codes that you redeem yourself on minecraft.net. We never ask for your Microsoft password, your two-factor codes, or access to your account. If a code does not work we replace it, and if we cannot replace it we refund you.

Do you ever need my Microsoft account password?

No. There is no situation in which MineCapes needs your Microsoft password, your two-factor authentication code, or access to your account. You receive a redemption code and enter it yourself on the official Minecraft website. Any cape seller asking to log into your account should be refused.

Could my code have already been redeemed by someone else?

Each code in our inventory is assigned to exactly one order at the moment of payment, at the database level, and is then marked sold. That makes it impossible for the same code to be issued to two different buyers, even if two people check out at the same instant. Codes are never redeemed, tested against an account, or shared by us before delivery.

What happens if my cape code does not work?

Contact support@minecapes.net with your order number. We replace the code first. If we cannot source a replacement, you receive a full refund. This applies to crypto orders too — because an on-chain payment cannot be reversed, the refund is sent back to you in crypto, to an address you provide. Every code is tracked against its order, so we can check its status immediately rather than taking your word or ours.

What payment details does MineCapes see?

None. Card payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe-hosted checkout, so your card number never reaches our servers. Cryptocurrency payments are processed through NOWPayments. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, plus your email address for delivery.

Are the capes on the site actually in stock?

Yes. Stock counts come from real code inventory. When the last code for a cape is sold the listing is marked sold out immediately. We do not take backorders or display a cape as available when no code exists behind it.

Reaching a person

Two channels, both monitored. Include your order number either way and we can look up the exact code and its status straight away.
