Minecraft Dungeons II Capes for Java & Bedrock: Hero, Twisted & Aurora

Three new Minecraft capes are arriving with Minecraft Dungeons II, which launches September 29, 2026. All three unlock in Minecraft: Java and Bedrock Edition, and each one is gated a different way: one by loyalty, one by a pre-order, and one by a stream drop.

Hero Cape: the Loyalty Reward

A golden Redstone Monstrosity face on crimson cloth, hemmed in gold. Mojang describes it as drenched in scarlet dye, cascading like molten rubies. It's the reward for having played the original Minecraft Dungeons before coming back for the sequel.

The requirement is a loyalty check, not a purchase:

Twisted Cape: the Pre-Order Bonus

The Twisted Warden's spine in bone and pale yellow, running down sculk-navy cloth with a teal hem. It comes with the Twisted Chicken pet and rift-outfitted Steve and Alex skins, though only the cape crosses over to Minecraft.

The gate is the pre-order itself: it has to be placed before launch on September 29, 2026, and after that the cape is gone for good. Once you have pre-ordered, you still need to claim it: sign into Dungeons II after launch, confirm the pre-order items, then log into Java or Bedrock.

Physical pre-orders have an extra step that trips people up. You have to redeem the code from the box on your platform store (Xbox, Nintendo or PlayStation) before the in-game confirmation. Details: Minecraft Twisted Cape explained.

Aurora Cape: the Launch Stream Drop

A pastel gradient from teal through lavender, pink and peach to a pale lime hem, dotted with pixel stars. It started life as a spare Dungeons II concept based on the Sift, the game's new dimension.

It's also the easiest of the three to get. You don't need either Dungeons game, just a qualifying stream:

• TikTok: 3 minutes on a Game Rewards-enabled Dungeons II stream
• Window: September 29, 12:00 AM PT to October 14, 11:59 PM PT

The Mistakes That Will Cost People Capes

One Microsoft account. For the Hero and Twisted Capes, Dungeons I, Dungeons II and Minecraft: Java/Bedrock all have to be the same account. Mojang calls this out twice in its own announcement, which tells you how often it goes wrong. Couch co-op on a friend's console is fine, but you have to sign in as yourself, not play on their profile.

Checking too early. Both capes appear in Dungeons II first. Only once you can see and equip them there does logging into Minecraft grant them. People who check Java first, see nothing and assume they were skipped are simply checking too early.

Refunding the game. Refunding Dungeons II revokes the capes it unlocked. For the Twisted Cape, that loss is permanent.

Where These Sit Among Minecraft Capes

The Hero and Twisted Capes are the first Minecraft capes in a long while tied to another game's purchase or playtime. Most recent capes have been event drops: the Crafter Cape at TwitchCon Europe, the Builder Cape via Twitch and TikTok, and the MCC 15th Year Cape through Noxcrew's anniversary server. The Aurora Cape follows that familiar drop model.

That gives them different scarcity profiles. A stream drop is capped by attention. A cross-game reward is capped by how many people owned the first Dungeons and return for the sequel. Nobody knows those numbers yet, so every rarity estimate for these capes, including ours, is provisional.
